Bio

Fiona Taylor is a writer, interviewer, and podcaster based on Bunurong Country in Melbourne’s southeast.

When she’s not at her laptop crafting stories, she hosts the Reading by Candlelight podcast, where she interviews debut and emerging Australian authors, championing fresh voices and their captivating stories.

She is also the producer and co-host of The Word Count, a writing accountability podcast that follows three Australian writers on their journey to publication in real time, alongside bestselling author Jo Dixon and internationally acclaimed podcaster Jacq Ellem.

Fiona is currently working on her first book, a pop crime thriller that fuses her passion for fashion, celebrity culture, and murder mysteries.

She studied Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT, completed the Writing a Novel course with Faber Academy, and honed her crime-writing skills with Curtis Brown UK. In 2019, her short story Birdsong received a Highly Commended in the Writers Victoria Emerging Writers Competition.

Fiona is a familiar face at author events and writers’ festivals across Australia and is active on social media. She is mentored by award-winning author Hayley Scrivenor and has been awarded a KSP Writers’ Centre Fellowship for 2025.
